Welcome to Poinsettia Elementary

Principal's message

Dear Poinsettia Families,

On behalf of myself and the entire Poinsettia Elementary School staff, I would like to welcome all new and returning families to the 2025-2026 school year. This year, we’re Wild About Learning—encouraging curiosity and exploration while fostering a growth mindset and making learning a fun and exciting adventure for every student. At Poinsettia, we’re all part of the Lion Pride, and together we’re planning more family events both on and off campus, various volunteer opportunities, monthly spirit days, revamped student recognition ceremonies, and so much more.

To stay updated on all the exciting events and information, please be sure to complete the Annual Update and verify your cell phone number(s) and email address(es) on AERIES to receive updates via our Parent Square online messaging system.

The Poinsettia Parent Press will continue to go out every Sunday at 4:00 PM with the latest information to start the week and if you miss it there will be a reminder sent out on Wednesdays too. Don’t forget to check out our school website and add our Instagram to stay connected:

I highly encourage all of our parents to become active members of our Parent Teacher Organization PTO. With your support, our staff and students can enjoy amazing community-building events, on-campus enrichment activities, field trips, academic support and the list goes on. Please look for more information in your child’s first day packet and on their website on ways to get involved.

Lions, together with our Wild About Learning spirit we will show respect, make good decisions, and solve problems! This is going to be the best year yet! #wearelions

Warmly,

Ms. Melanie Morrow

“This recognition truly belongs to our school staff, students and their families, the School Attendance Review Board, and our Ventura Unified SARB Chairperson, Vicky Yasenchok,” said Maria Elizarraras, Director of Student Support Services. “Addressing attendance barriers requires collaboration, dedication, and a shared commitment to student success. We are dedicated to fostering strong attendance while partnering closely with families to understand students’ challenges and provide the support they need to thrive.”
